Deactivated bookmark — a bookmark with a trailing - on its name, skipped by hande without being deleted. See Chapter 5.

Domain code — a single-character shorthand for a subdomain, defined in the configuration file and used in a subdomain reference. See Chapter 4 and Chapter 7.

Global bookmark — a bookmark whose name starts with an uppercase letter, reachable from anywhere in the database. See Chapter 2.

Handler — the program that opens a bookmark’s location. See Chapter 3.

Link location — a bookmark location that points to a resource — a URL, a local file, a directory. See Chapter 3.

Local bookmark — a bookmark whose name starts with a lowercase letter or digit, reachable only from within its own category. See Chapter 2.

Reference — a location that points to another bookmark by name and builds on it, rather than giving its own address outright. See Chapter 4.

Reserved name — one of hande’s own built-in bookmarks: $home$, $search$, $help$, $manual$. None can be used as an ordinary bookmark’s name, and none appear in a category listing.

Scope — whether a bookmark is local or global. See Chapter 2.

Search bookmark — a bookmark flagged with a trailing ?, usable as a search engine. See Chapter 5.

Shortcut key — a single character attached to a bookmark, category, or subcategory, letting it be opened or reached without typing its full name. See Chapter 1 and Chapter 5.

Subcategory — a group of bookmarks nested inside a category file with braces, addressed as category.subcategory.name. See Chapter 2.

Subdomain reference — a reference that also prepends (or replaces the www. of) a subdomain on its target’s own address. See Chapter 4.

Tag — a keyword attached to a bookmark’s comment line, searchable with the / trigger. Also called an alias. See Chapter 1 and Chapter 5.

Target — the bookmark a reference points to. See Chapter 4.

Working category — the category the shell is currently pointed at, shown in the prompt and changed with :to. Every category-implicit shell command acts on this one. Also called the active category. See Chapter 2.
